Researching Copyright Holders

If you intend to use someone's copyrighted work, unless it's material that is considered fair use, the written permission must be obtained. To seek out a copyright owner, you can begin by searching the copyright notice, which identifies the owner of the copyright. In some instances the owner of the copyright may not be able to grant permission and the publisher of the work would need to be sought.
